New Stuff at Spork Pittsburgh

Starting This Week Chef Chritian Frangiadis is adding an Eciting New Option for Diners, Tastinns Menus srerved at the Kitchen Counter.  Two versions will be available, Carnovore and Vegetarian, each with 7 Courses, Matched wines available as well.  Next Month, recognizing Negroni Week and Pittsburgh Pride, Pastry Chef and Cocktail Crew will be featuring the Signature Cocktail and a Sour Cherry Pop Tart, called just "the Tart", but with some special "Sides".  Part of the Proceeds will go to local Charities.  While you're at Spork be sure to take a look at the Garden, several times larger than last year.  You can be sure the Chefs will me making some special treats with the Harvest.  We'll see you there !!  

Chef Quique DaCosta to bring Londoners Paella

Michelin 3-Star Modern Chef will open Arroz QD in Fitxrovia this summer.  Quique's Home Restaurant is in Denia (where OTM frst met him) between Valencia and Alicante.  He promises Classic versions of Paella Valenciana "Mateilaizing a Passion I have been  nurturing for Years".  Chef promises contemporary rice dfishes featuring sesonal UK ingredients.  We wonder if he'll be offering the Renowned Red Shrimp of Denia, which we have adored when visiting Spain's Eastern Coast.  More at .  .

Great News for Fans of Anthony Demetre’s Wild Honey in London

OTM was saddened when we saw the news that the original Wild Honey was going to close, since it was one of our favorite Dining Destinations in London.  In fact we first met Chef Anthony at his first venture Arbutus.  So how great to hear that WH will become WH St. James, at a new location.  Opening is targeted for the end of May.  The WH website has not been updated with details, but it’s sure to be -  Best wishes Anthony, now we have another excuse to catch up with you again.

412 Food Rescue launches Exciting New Development in their Mission

Pittsburgh’s Local food recovery nonprofit 412 Food Rescue just announced the beginning of their next approach in their mission to simultaneously address the issues of food waste and hunger at a new multi-purpose community space in Millvale today. Housed in the recently renovated shared space of the former Millvale Moose kitchen, one area of focus is the Good Food Project – the coming to fruition of an idea and plan submitted by 412 Food Rescue for - and second-place winner of - the UpPrize social innovation challenge in 2017.

“We are excited to launch new methods of food recovery,” said Leah Lizarondo, CEO and co-founder of 412 Food Rescue.  “This kitchen will help us to stabilize highly perishable surplus food as ingredients that can be prepared and frozen, then providwed as a healthy, convenient meal for people in need.” For more about this amazing project –

Nelson's Green Brier Does it Again

The Nelson Brothers Andy and Charlie did it again at 2019 San Francisco World;s Spirits Competition.  Their Belle Meade Honey Cask Finish Bourbon was awarded World Best Barrel-Finished Bourbon.  This is the Nelson's second win in this category, in the past 4 years.  To put this in persepctive, the SF Competition covered more than 3,000 spirits.  The Nelson Distillery is located in Nashville, and the original pre-dates Prohibition.  For more of the Story on how it was revived,


Maida Heatter - Still Baking after all these Years

At Age 102 Maida, dubbed  “Queen of Cake” by Saveur, just published a New Book, Happiness is Baking: Favorite Desserts from the Queen of Cake.  Our Good Friend Dorie Greenspan contributed the Foreword.  An Echo of Simon & Garfunkel seems appropriate.. World’s 50 Best Restaurants in the News.  The Asian version of the Awards took place in Macau, and in something of an upset Odette in Singapore (Chef Julien Royer) took Top Spot, over Bangkok’s Gaggan which won the Title 4 years in a row.  Get details of the entire Asia Top 50, Female Chef, Pastry Chef, etc. at
